Curious about coaching?

I'm often asked the question, "What does a coach do?"

I usually respond by saying the better question to ask is not what a coach does (we do many things), but what coaching can do for YOU.

If I could sum up what coaching is in a few words, I would say - coaching takes you on a journey that supports you to make positive changes in your life, or work towards specific goals and aspirations. Through a combination of conversational change and NLP processes, I guide you through the process of creating deep and lasting change by playing the roles of motivator, strategist, and accountability partner. Coaching is also a healing process because it helps you confront issues that have been holding you back and preventing you from creating a reality you love to be in. By facing what has been limiting you, you then make space to introduce new habits, thoughts and beliefs that better serve the person you want to be, and the life you want to live.

People come to me for coaching for a variety of reasons, but it is mostly because they are dissatisfied with how life feels in that moment. Even if they don’t know what is causing the sense of unfulfillment or how to change it, they just know that where they are doesn’t feel good. The initial coaching consultation is designed to help you uncover what it is you need, and we make a plan together on how best to move forward.

Here are some common reasons people have come to me for coaching:

⭐ To learn how to honour their own needs and wishes.

⭐ To feel more confident and increase their self-esteem.

⭐ To navigate through big changes in their life.

⭐ To reduce overwhelm and stress.

What I DON'T do as a coach:

👎 Tell you what to do

I believe that you are the expert of your life. My role is to create shifts within you that move things out of the way so you can see the answers more clearly and access your internal resources more easily. Whilst coaching is not mentoring, there is a mentoring aspect to it at times, which may involve me seeking permission to offer suggestions, from which you can take what you need and leave the rest.

👎 Aggressively push you into action

I don’t believe in harsh accountability, not unless someone specifically requests that from me (but that’s rare!)

At the beginning of the coaching relationship we discuss what approaches motivate and demotivate you, and agree on how you’d like me to hold you accountable for what you commit to doing (or not doing) as we move forward. If something is getting in the way of you taking action, we look at it together with curiosity and compassion, and then help you get unstuck.
